Effective Speech Delivery Tips

There are many strategies for developing your public speaking skills. Here are my tips for effective speech delivery...

Public Speaking a dreadful experience. Whether you are an experienced speaker or a new starter, everyone feels the same pressure and butterflies. It pumps adrenalin and anxiety, so you certainly not alone. These feelings don’t just affect you physically; it also compromises your ability to get your point across.

There are many strategies for developing your public speaking skills. With the right mindset and motivation, anyone can deliver their message regardless of the audience size and environment.

  1. Love your speech subject: If you wish to talk confidently and keep your nerves under control; select a topic that you are comfortable and knowledgeable. Make sure that include some less known exciting facts which will help you engage with your audience.

  2. Do not drink alcohol, coffee or tea before any speech; drink room temperature still water instead.

  3. Create small hand notes to remind you key stepping stones on your speech.

  4. Arrange the length of your speech appropriately; if your speech is too short, you may not be able to give all the necessary information. On the other hand, if your speech is too long, you may lose their attention.

  5. Always use a conversational tone to help you remain calm and composed.

  6. Use anecdotes, jokes or stories related to your subject to keep your audience focused on the subject and interested.

  7. It is always easier to speak to people you know. Therefore, please get to know your audience, greet them as they come to the venue and engage them in some conversation. This will make you feel more comfortable at the stage.

  8. Always allocate some time for a Q&A session. Do a broad search to understand your subject from different perspectives to answer questions more confident and increase audience engagement.

Each of the above tips has proven effective; you may not look forward to having public speaking engagements, but you can be sure that it will help you deal with your anxiety effectively.

All speakers must be motivational. They must have a delivery style that is good enough and content that is strong enough to motivate their audience to either start doing something or stop doing something, or maybe change something.
